642 Things to Write About: Tell a story that begins with a ransom note

We have your binky collection. Follow these instructions and nobody will get hurt.  Place sixteen Mega Bloks, 26 alphabet blocks and one box of Nilla Wafers in a small, unlabeled diaper bag. All blocks must be free of teeth marks and drool.  Leave the diaper bag outside of my your brother’s room, knock twice and then crawl away….SLOWLY!!!  After Momma counts everything everything is counted, I will release your collection of binky’s, placing them back inside of the crib.

Do NOT tell Momma or Dadda about this. Do NOT call the police. And, whatever you do, DO NOT alert the house cats, especially the cranky one...she scares me.

“Honey,” I turned to my beautiful baby boy.  His face was beaming with pride.  His big, blue eyes shined with joy.  I hated to bring this up but someone needed to tell him.  “The thing is,”  I bit my lip, stalling until the words came to me.  “You really shouldn’t write this inside of your sister’s birthday card.  It’s not nice.”  I shook my head at him, emphasizing my point.

He looked up at me and smiled.  “Yes, birthday!”

Sigh.  This little guy is a handful.  But, the thing is, his sister is even more of a handful.  He’d better enjoy the fact that she’s still not walking.  Her first step is going to be the end of the world as he knows it, especially when she snatches toys right out of his hand and runs away with them.
