Are there elephants in the Bible?

I write letters to Ellen DeGeneres. No particular reason. Just because I can.

Dear Ellen,

A couple of weeks ago, I started saying bedtime prayers to my toddlers.  After the prayer is over, I say, “Amen,” because, well….that’s what you’re supposed to do at the conclusion of a prayer…I think.  I’m actually not sure, I’m just repeating what the pastor does during church service – when I’m paying attention – so don’t quote me on it. Moving along!  Most of the time, my daughter will say “Amen,” in her cute little two-year-old voice. But! Sometimes she doesn’t. Sometimes, at the conclusion of the prayer she says, “Elephant,” instead of “Amen.”

Ellen, do you know? Are there elephants in the Bible?

Sincerely,

A. Marie

  1. I did what I felt Ellen would do when posed with such a question. I looked for a production assistant to answer it. Having none my own…I then “Googled” this question and it appears at the very least elephants are indirectly referenced in the Bible. Amen.

  2. Don’t you just wish, just for a short space you could enter that wonderfully innocent way of looking at things. What a sweet thing to say. (Now it’s going to stick in my head when I go to Mass- and why not?)

  3. I knew a blogger that wrote letters to Oprah. I wonder why these celebs don’t seem to be getting their letters. Speaking of letters, or more precisely short stories, I was just wondering if you got mine for your magazine.
