Dear Ellen: Is it wrong to be jealous?

Sometimes I write letters to Ellen DeGeneres.  No particular reason. Just because I can.

Dear Ellen,

I’ve been writing on and off for six years.  For the past two years, I’ve been writing on a daily basis.  While I haven’t published anything more than a blog, I’m still writing constantly.  My cat, as it turns out, is also a writer.  She’s been writing on and off for three years. Recently, she pitched a series of blog ideas to a website called Katzenworld. Guess what, Ellen?  They offered her a position as a contributor.  My cat. My four-legged feline was offered a professional writing gig.  She’s an animal.  She doesn’t even have opposable thumbs and they offered her a writing position – granted, she’s not being paid for it, but still.  It’s a writing credit. How is this fair?  Is it wrong to be jealous of a cat?

Have you ever been upstaged by your pets? If so, please tell me all about it in the comments.  I really need to know I’m not the only one!
