A writer is only as good as her writing team. So, I’d like to take this opportunity to introduce everyone to my team. First is my desk, Rodrigo. Rodrigo is a custom desk built by my husband. While his name may sound sexy to some, Rodrigo is a complainer. He moans and groans all day long about having back pain. My dictionaries and other books have taken offense to this. They feel it’s a reflection on their weight. I’ve assured them it’s not. Their word count is just fine.

My very mischievous laptop is Amos. Amos is constantly bickering with Leonard (my laser printer). For no particular reason, Amos will send random print jobs to Leonard to irritate him.

Leonard is pictured above. He’s a very sullen laser printer who frequently suffers from constipation and often complains of paper cuts.

In the photo above we have the rest of my ensemble. Stella is my stapler. She bites and spits staples when she’s angry. The notebook is Nancy. She’s very particular about how her pages are turned and also prefers only the most immaculate handwriting. Her partner in crime is clipped to her front cover – Peter 125. Peter is the 125th pen I’ve gone through in the past few months. Hey, even the most creative people need a break from naming their inanimate objects.
George is the baby monitor. He yells when he gets excited. Sometimes the volume of his voice startles the crap out of me.
Last but not least is my office flair. Yes that’s right I have pieces of flair for my office. Pictured below is Ziggy.

Ziggy is an old ink jar I found in an antique shop in Aiken, SC. Ziggy feels he drew the short end of the stick being purchased by an amateur such as myself. He feels he is better suited to sit on the desk of a literary great such as E.L James (Fifty Shades of Grey Trilogy). Given that there is an ongoing debate as to whether or not E.L. James can be called a “literary great” I told Ziggy he might want to set his sights a bit higher.
The dried ink inside of Ziggy is actually blue but in the right light, Ziggy looks purple which is perfect for me because I love the color purple – the actual color, not the movie. For the record, I do love The Color Purple. But my favorite Whoopi Goldberg movie is and will always be Jumpin’ Jack Flash – the movie not the Rolling Stones song.
Not pictured is Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald is a large feather I’d like to put inside of Ziggy to complete his look. Yes, that’s right. I’m decorating my office flair with more flair.
And that’s my staff. Oh wait….I almost forgot….

If it wasn’t for Gwennie’s diligence (holding my coffee hostage until I get my writing done) I wouldn’t be the writer I am today.
